Phantom Queen was inspired by the most haunted place in India, the ruins of Bhangarh in Rajasthan. The production conjured up a distinctive mix of circus, Indian drama and music. The UK production, commissioned by ArtsEkta to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Belfast Mela on 27th August 2016, featured British and Indian artists. R&D of the piece was done in Jaipur with Indian actors, circus artists and folk musicians in the autumn of 2015. Arch Academy in Jaipur provided talented interns for the making of costumes and props.
